Popular Prints

What’s in this season? An outrageous amount of prints. Seen on runways all over the world, this craze has taken over the fashion industry in a fury so great, it’s hard to keep up. The mixture of animal prints, vintage prints (such as stripes and dots), florals, even the newly popular tribal print, can suddenly be seen on anything from dresses to shoes.

Together, separate, meshing or even clashing, these prints go from subtle to outrageously bold in the attempt to make the garment stand out. Small flowers strewn in softer pinks and purples can be seen in stores with intricate chunks of colors and patterns of shapes now know as tribal prints.

The diversity of this trend is simply unbelievable. From the sexy, cheetah print to the softer, romantic floral print, this trend works for almost any occasion possible. What is amazing about the present prints versus vintage, before-our-time prints, is that these typical stereotyped prints are now breaking free of their boundaries. The cheetah print does not now only have to be created just for it’s usual sexiness, but can now be almost as romantic as the pastel florals (still with it’s own hint of fierceness) that we see on the more shy women, thanks to the genius creations of many designers (Find a romantic cheetah print dress example here.)

And, not only is it diverse in styles, but also what it can be put on. Not only are prints made for just dresses, shirts and skirts anymore, but also shoes, hats, and even jewelry. Designers such as Zero Cornejo and Alexander McQueen have already created garments flaunting this popular trend, with many designers following closely in their footsteps.

This is a trend that is allowing women to break free of their jeans and comfy sweater and throw on a zebra print blouse tucked into their favorite shorts as Spring slowly emerges. The changing of season creates an entirely new palette of trends.
