HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!

 

I'm not usually one for resolutions; I never keep to them. I remembered last year resolution was to work out and get in shape. Well, I just got done eating half a bag of pizza rolls and am currently chugging down a cherry Coke. Resolutions just don't work for me. But, this year, I have one that I think will be perfect for me.

 

 

My resolution is a simple word: STRIVE.

 

Strive to work out, to save more, to help others. Just, strive.

Chewbacca's Baby.

 Her name is Roxi, but let's be honest; She's not a little dog, she's a baby Chewbacca. She's a cute little 'bacca though, except for now and then (look at last picture). She loves that little fur ball, that little puffed up rat, that little doggie.

ABOUT THE LOOK: Summer is almost over, but that doesn't mean it's time for cardigans and coats just yet. I went for another soft look that wasn't too ethereal this time. I got the dress from Rue 21 and the shoes are my sister's. With an all white lace dress like this one, keep accessories to one simple color, try gold.. Plus, red lips. They'll pop against the whites and golds and, not to mention, the tan colors in your aunt's dog's fur. 

BEHIND THE SCENES: Roxi is so adorable, but she doesn't like people in her face. She gave me the stanky eye here. Not to mention, my cousin accidentally knocked out her front tooth with she was a pup so her tongue is always hanging out. Silly Chewbacca dog.

Two Piece Tuesday

It's summer time and what better way to express my love for it on this fantastic Two Piece Tuesday than by sharing this photo with you! To begin, I love the high waisted shorts because it balances the itsy-bitsiness of the bralette. Let's admit it, bralettes can easily look a bit... uhm... skanky at times. However, pairing these shorts and the shawl with it makes it so that most of your body is still covered, just like in this photo!

Get the Ethereal Feel

I've really been digging the whole Ethereal feel I've been seeing in some of the photographers shoots that I look at. I think I'm going to try to grab a flower crown and my photographer and go wild with being earthy and gentle in one of our shoots. Until then, I wanted to make a little inspiration post for all of us! I'll get ideas of what I want to wear, all-the-while showing you all how to get the Ethereal vibe.

1. Get clothes that match the color of your skin or lighter.

2. Refuse to Wear Pants.

3. Go with the flow. It's okay.

4. Wear a crown of flowers.

5. Have perfectly tousled hair.

 

6. Channel your inner nymph.

 

And there you go! How to look Ethereal. Put all of the above together and you've got the perfect outfit for a stroll in the woods or for a potential photo shoot! What do you all think?

Darkness Can Be Beautiful

 Spring has finally arrived, and, although an abundance of colors has now blossomed, the sky grows darker. Tornadoes, fast winds, devastation, all thrown on full blast this season. Hail fled from the clouds and crushed the newly risen grass and broke the branches who's xylem had finally reached the tips of even it's smallest sprigs. Oh well, with destruction comes restoration; it brings, not only communities, but strangers and outsiders together as well.

ABOUT THE LOOK: I've been so excited about spring, but it's been dark and stormy for days now. Andrea and I were going to do this shoot at the train station again, but we decided to try something new because of the way the weather was working the lighting. It made it a little mysterious, which I liked. It was a different than our normal shoots. I wore Andrea's gorgeous cutout dress that has anchors printed on it (Love it!). It matched the background quite nicely I believed. Plus, if you look closely, you can spot my newly ombred hair! It goes to red because I wanted something different and didn't want to bleach my hair. 

 BEHIND THE SCENES: Just one behind the scenes today. It was incredibly windy out and my hair swung out all around my face nearly the entire time! It's always hard to keep my lion mane under control.

Androgynous

So this is what it's like to be a man; Furrowed brows, "muscle" bearing tanks, bangs for hair, shoes not even properly tied and pinkies up. Well, she's/he's part English, pinkies up is like breathing for her/him. Androgynous.

ABOUT THE LOOK: I decided to try something a little (lot) different than I normally do. I used runway inspiration and flipped the ends of my hair to the front to create a Justin Beiberesque hair do and added a beenie to conceal the weirdness that is the pinned part of my hair. I decided a simple black tank paired with some dark jeans would be perfect for the shoot. I also decided to sit down to help conceal the look of my womanly hips. It helped a lot. Trust me. I wanted to do an androgynous shoot and I did. Was it a success... I'll let you all decide.

I can't help the pinky, it just happens. MANLY.

Cut and Dye

It was cold out. Not the kind of cold that freezes water, but the kind that makes your hair stand straight up on your spine. It was the breezes. It was that time of the year. It was fall. Finally.

Brown leaves and that cool breeze. Spiked necklace cold against her neck. She's at a soccer field in a small town but dreaming of traveling to a bigger city. She wants to see the world, see fashion, see new people. But all she can see right now is the warm, black leather jacket calling her name.

ABOUT THE LOOK: I cut my hair! And dyed it, as well as you can see. I'm not too happy with it, but it's exactly what I told my hair dresser to do (AKA my mom). When I first got it, I straightened it and I looked like Cher or the girl off the Adams Family. Bleh. I feel like I'll figure it out how to rock it though. So, about the look; I went for a toned-down rocker sort of look. I have tight pants on and snakeskin/suede heels, but paired it with this nice white sweater to give it a softer touch. Although the spiked necklace leans more towards the rocker side, it's still a pretty balanced outfit.

It's hard to be so darn pertfect. The hair, the lighting, the outfit, the face, it all has to be perfect if you're a blogger. It's what's expected... but let's be reasonable... who is ever perfect? It's time to show the behind-the-scenes, the unedited. The part that isn't perfect.

Belated Birthday Post

I'm baaaaaaaaack! Wow! It's been so long since I've last logged on! Well, I've logged on quite a bit but haven't posted anything in a while. I had severe conjunctivitis (fancy word for pink eye) and wasn't really in the mood to have my picture taken, they wouldn't have been pretty anyway, my eyes were so red:( Speaking of red... I cut my hair and dyed it red! Just one of the changes you will be seeing around here along with a behind the scenes section at the bottom of the page. Check it out and tell me what you think!

Anyway, my birthday was last week and I finally turned 18! I'm an adult now; I can buy cigarettes, get a tattoo and purchase lotto tickets, although I probably won't do any of those. I'll vote though! My best friends Heather and Mason got me these gorgeous Jeffrey Campbell Nightwalker shoes. They are surprisingly easy to walk in and the expressions on people's faces when I walked by in them was priceless! I have to admit though... I tripped. I tripped right in front of a couple of cars who had stopped at a stop sign and, little did I know, I tripped in front of a big group of people who had just gotten off a train behind me. Good thing I don't get embarrassed easily. My other best friend and amazing photographer, Andrea took these shots for me. I can always count on her for anything, especially giving you all more shots to gaze upon!

ABOUT THE LOOK: This outfit is all about the legs. The triple-button, high top pants and six-inch-heel (minus an actual heel) shoes made my legs appear to go on for miles (and let me tell you, the amount of catcalls we got on the shoot proved that people noticed!). The colors on the saddle oxford part of the shoe coordinated with the shorts and the shirts colors clashed with the bottom of the shoes, which I actually enjoyed! But, back to my legs... I tucked the shirt into the front and left it hanging in the back which also gave the look of extremely long legs so if your looking for extending your legs without painful surgery or such, try multi-buttoned shorts, a half-tucked shirt and sky high heels... with actual heels if you prefer;)

BEHIND THE SCENES: It was so incredibly hot out when we were taking these pictures. I kept sweating and we would have to stop to blot my face off! And, as you can tell, I wore flip flops most of the time. I didn't feel like strutting around in my new beautiful shoes for an hour or two, but I carried them and was careful not to put a single scratch on them!
